Jerry is a high-energy individual who is goal oriented, quick to learn and competitive. He has concentrated his career in real estate for the past 25 years. He has provided leadership since childhood as an Eagle Scout, officer in the Marine Corps and every endeavor since. He enjoys winning by outsmarting his competition. Jerry has a proven record of exceeding his performance goals. He is a rare combination of a highly analytical mind and sensitivity toward understanding human behavior. Prior to real estate, Jerry worked with emotionally disturbed children and adults and started two agencies to meet the needs of this troubled population. Recognized as an expert in marketing research he hosts the “Meet the Experts” panel at the annual National Home Builders convention. The American Marketing Association has published his focus group techniques. He has co-authored two books: "Sales and Marketing" published by the Home Builder Institute of the National Association of Home Builders and "Effective Marketing on a Shoe String Budget" published by the University of Housing. Jerry has recently completed work as Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Lennar Corporation and previously served as an Area President for Neuman Homes. As former corporate Vice President of K. Hovnanian Enterprises, Inc., a national builder ranked 15th largest in the United States, his duties included planning, conducting and implementing market research services. He served as the corporate counsel to the operating divisions to ensure that market and consumer research served as the basis from which land and product decisions were made. Jerry has been involved in the design, sale and delivery of approximately 25,000 new homes in California, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Jerry developed corporate-wide training programs for sales professionals. He also developed training programs designed to teach mid to upper level managers financial management and planning. He created a financial management simulation game, which taught middle and senior level managers “profit and loss,” “cash flow,” “return on investment,” and “understanding the balance sheet.” He was the key person in developing a contact management system that has given K. Hovnanian Enterprises, Inc. a significant advantage in the market. Sales increased and so did profits. Jerry has also served as an Area President in the Inland Empire in Southern California. After fulfilling that role, Jerry returned to Colorado with his family. Jerry has specialized in real estate with a focus on market research to better understand the target market and creating the most effective ways to reach them. Earlier in his career, Jerry joined North American Homes where he was responsible for conducting market and consumer research and plan new communities. He was instrumental in helping the company grow to become the second largest builder in the Colorado Springs market. Jerry duties included the marketing and sales management functions. The co-owner of North American Homes and AmWest Development asked Jerry to manage the initial development of a new 2,000-acre master planned community called “Stetson Hills.” He was responsible for building the infrastructure in Phase-I. He coordinated and managed the development of the roads, built a major bridge and internal sub-division home sites that allowed “Stetson Hills” to enter the market on time and with four major builders. In addition to building the infrastructure, Jerry was responsible for the marketing plan to open “Stetson Hills.” He sold finished home sites or vacant land directly to builders. ”Stetson Hills” opened on time and is in the final sell out phases today. In the later 80’s, Jerry left “Stetson Hills” to promote an existing 2,000 acre community called Nor’Wood. His duties included developing and implementing an overall marketing plan and to sell finished home sites to builders. He also acted as an in-house consultant to builders who had limited resources to apply a professional approach to promoting their homebuilding businesses. In the beginning of Jerry’s real estate career, he collaborated with Dave Bamberger, an economist and planner, and together they formed The Research and Consulting Group. During this 3-year period, Jerry concentrated on marketing and consumer research as it applied to the real estate market. He helped builders ascertain the feasibility and projected absorption of their new communities. Jerry also developed ongoing market research techniques which, when set in place, allowed the homebuilder to stay ahead of the competition and ensure the success of the overall community Jerry is a well-rounded individual and gives back to the industry.
